Department of Drama - 19 June 2025

In an unprecedented showing, two alumnae of the Department of Drama's PhD program are the recipients of Post Doc SSHRC grants.

Lily Climenhaga (BA '13, MA '15, PhD '21) will be pursuing their post doctoral research in "Changing Institutional Dramaturgies in Flanders and Germany" at the University of Ghent in Belgium.

HeunJung Lee (PhD '23) takes up her post doc work at the University of Calgary with "Moving through Dementia: Enabling Embodied Creativity of Immigrants Living with Dementia through Culturally Tailored Movement Program."

Post Doc SSHRC (Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council) are federally governed research grants that are part of the so-called Tri-Agency (with Science/Technology and Health/Medical as the other two legs). Post Docs are an essential program for highly talented and skilled researchers to further their research; they typically cover multiple years for PhDs to work on their own research under the supervision of senior scholars/researchers.

Receiving two post-doctoral grants in the same competition for a relatively small PhD program is a tremendous feat, and testimony of the quality of these great researchers, their supervisor, and the program.

Please join us in extending our congratulations to Lily and HeunJung!
