Justin di Trani, PhD

Justin Di Trani is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry. Justin obtained his PhD at McGill University under the supervision of Dr. Anthony Mittermaier, where he developed methods for measuring enzyme kinetics using isothermal titration calorimetry, with broad applications in drug development. Following his PhD he joined the laboratory of Dr John Rubinstein, where he studied electron transport chain complexes using cryogenic electron microscopy (cryoEM) and developed various methods for cryoEM sample preparation and computation analysis. Justin’s independent research program builds upon his postdoctoral work, focusing on exploring macromolecules involved in bioenergetics through a combination of cryoEM and kinetic analysis, with the goal of developing new antibiotics.
