Message from the Associate Dean, Academic and Student Experience

Jennifer Branch-MuellerWelcome to our teaching and learning community in the Faculty of Education!

We are profoundly committed to teaching excellence and pedagogical innovation, striving to cultivate an environment that nurtures exceptional educators and leaders. Our Faculty boasts award-winning instructors who exemplify dedication, blending scholarly expertise with practical wisdom to inspire the next generation of professionals - librarians, counsellors, and educators. This commitment is underpinned by a dedication to inclusive excellence, which actively integrates Indigenous ways of knowing into our curricula and practices, and prioritizes access, community, and belonging for every learner.

As the largest and oldest Faculty of Education in the country, we place high value on preparing our pre-service teachers with the competencies, confidence, and critical thinking skills required to succeed in Alberta K-12 classrooms. Through carefully designed, challenging, and supportive coursework, we model the relational trust and effective practices essential for dynamic learning environments. Our commitment is to ensure that theory directly informs practice and that our graduates are fully equipped to meet the diverse needs of learners.

Together, our instructors and students contribute to a vibrant culture focused on continuous improvement in pedagogy, ensuring our many programs remain relevant, rigorous, and deeply connected to the realities of the field.

I encourage you to explore our website further to learn more about the impressive work and dedication of our teaching community.
